grant granted

I am overjoyed to write these words!  The Centre County Council for Human Services has given us a grant to purchase supplies for The Faith Garden.  We will also be able to install a fence to keep out deer, rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks, raccoons, skunks, hungry children and any other herbivore that might munch on our plants.  A special thanks to Nicole, who wrote the awesome grant proposal.

A big THANK YOU to everyone who joined us for the Ground Breaking a few weeks ago!  We were blessed with great weather and lots of strong arms.  Before lunch, we accomplished all of this:

1. spread and tilled in mushroom compost
2. measured and formed beds
3. sowed field pea, crimson clover and triticale seeds (cover crops) 
4. sowed garlic
5. enjoyed donuts and hot apple cider

If you weren't able to come but are interested in being a part of The Faith Garden, please let us know.  We will be having our first committee meeting before Christmas.  Thanks again, everyone!

Ground Breaking

Welcome to The Faith Garden! This Saturday, October 23, we will be breaking ground.  Join us at 9am to design the layout of the garden, make beds, prepare the land and sow cover crop seeds.  If you have a tape measure or a rototiller, we could certainly use a few extra.  We'll celebrate with donuts and hot apple cider.  Hope to see you there!
