it's seed sowing time!
If you're ready to be done with all this cold, white powder, you're not alone. Spring is certainly close and we've got a seed collection to prove it. We will be sowing peas in the garden next Saturday, 19 March at 10am. Construction of our compost bin is also scheduled to begin, so bring your gloves. Don't have a pair? No sweat - we'll have a few spares. As always, feel free to invite your friends to look for sprouting garlic.

first spring meeting
Although our garden is currently covered with six inches of frozen white ice (sometimes referred to as snow), it's already time to start planning for spring. We will be having our first planning meeting of the spring next Wednesday, 16 February. We'll meet at Faith Church at 6pm in Room 25. Hope you can make it!

grant granted
I am overjoyed to write these words! The Centre County Council for Human Services has given us a grant to purchase supplies for The Faith Garden. We will also be able to install a fence to keep out deer, rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks, raccoons, skunks, hungry children and any other herbivore that might munch on our plants. A special thanks to Nicole, who wrote the awesome grant proposal.

a success!
A big THANK YOU to everyone who joined us for the Ground Breaking a few weeks ago! We were blessed with great weather and lots of strong arms. Before lunch, we accomplished all of this:
- spread and tilled in mushroom compost
- measured and formed beds
- sowed field pea, crimson clover and triticale seeds (cover crops)
- sowed garlic
- enjoyed donuts and hot apple cider
